Formal statement

The formalization is available at the source below; its code is not attached here yet.

On-site verification needs an executable Lean target. None is attached yet.

A source attachment or link is not a verified proof. The statement’s correspondence with the original question needs human review.

Proofs & verification

No Lean has been submitted for this problem yet. A Lean file can be attached to a submission for review, though with no target here it cannot be machine-checked.

Background

It may be sufficient to have nk/k→∞n_k/k\to \infty. Good [Go74] and Bicknell and Hoggatt [BiHo76] have shown that ∑1F2n\sum \frac{1}{F_{2^n}} is irrational - in fact,

∑1F2n=7−52.\sum \frac{1}{F_{2^n}}=\frac{7-\sqrt{5}}{2}.

Badea [Ba87] proved that ∑1F2n+1\sum \frac{1}{F_{2^n+1}} is irrational.

The sum ∑1Fn\sum \frac{1}{F_n} itself was proved to be irrational by André-Jeannin [An89].

The main problem has been proved for c≥2c\geq 2 by Badea [Ba93]. It remains open for 1<c<21<c<2.
