Problem statement

13.[MerSmir2015a]*Conj. 5.7 via [Set] Define νw=Sw(1,…,1)\nu_{w}=\mathfrak{S}_{w}(1,\ldots,1) which is the sum of the coefficients of the Schubert polynomial Sw\mathfrak{S}_{w} of the permutation ww. For a given n, prove that the permutation w∈Snw\in S_{n} that maximizes νw\nu_{w} is “Richardson” or “layered” in that it has the form [Def. 5.5] (i1,i1−1,…,2,1,i2,i2−1,…,i1+1,i3,…,i2+1,…)(i_{1},i_{1}-1,\ldots,2,1,i_{2},i_{2}-1,\ldots,i_{1}+1,i_{3},\ldots,i_{2}+1,\ldots) for some i1<i2<i3<⋯<ik=ni_{1}<i_{2}<i_{3}<\cdots<i_{k}=n.

Machine attempts

0 recorded

Attempts run against the statement below and are recorded in full, including the failures. The point is to stop the next model — and the next person — from re-walking a road that is already known to end. Each attempt costs 25 credits.
