Problem statement

Erdős Problem 945: For a positive integer mm, let τ(m)\tau(m) denote the number of positive divisors of mm. For a real number x≥1x \geq 1, define F(x)F(x) to be the maximum integer kk such that there exists a natural number nn with n+k≤xn + k \leq x and the values τ(n+1),τ(n+2),…,τ(n+k)\tau(n+1), \tau(n+2), \ldots, \tau(n+k) are all distinct. Is it true that there exists a function O:R→RO: \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R} that is bounded in a neighborhood of infinity such that F(x)≤(log⁡x)O(x)F(x) \leq (\log x)^{O(x)} for all sufficiently large xx?
