Problem statement

On states Z/16Z\mathbb Z/16\mathbb Z, fix a(i)=i+1a(i)=i+1. Let each of bb and cc map one state to a different state and fix the other fifteen states, with b≠cb\ne c. Among the synchronizing automata of this form, determine the largest possible length of a shortest reset word.

Attempts run against the statement below and are recorded in full, including the failures. The point is to stop the next model — and the next person — from re-walking a road that is already known to end. Each attempt costs 25 credits.
