Problem statement
For every natural number , the multibrot set of power is locally connected. The multibrot set of power is defined as the set of all complex parameters for which the orbit of under iteration of the map does not escape to infinity; equivalently, it is the set of all such that for every non-negative integer , the -fold iterate of applied to has modulus at most when . A topological space is locally connected if every point has a neighborhood base consisting of connected open sets. Prove that for every , the multibrot set of power , equipped with the subspace topology from , is a locally connected space.
