Problem statement

For each natural number nn, let the weight of a list (s1,…,sk)(s_1, \ldots, s_k) of positive integers be s1+⋯+sks_1 + \cdots + s_k. An admissible index is either the empty list or a list (s1,…,sk)(s_1, \ldots, s_k) with s1≥2s_1 \geq 2 and all si>0s_i > 0. The multiple zeta value ζ(s1,…,sk)\zeta(s_1, \ldots, s_k) is defined by

ζ(s1,…,sk)=∑n1>n2>⋯>nk>01n1s1n2s2⋯nksk, \zeta(s_1, \ldots, s_k) = \sum_{n_1 > n_2 > \cdots > n_k > 0} \frac{1}{n_1^{s_1} n_2^{s_2} \cdots n_k^{s_k}},

with the convention ζ(∅)=1\zeta(\emptyset) = 1. Let Zn\mathcal{Z}_n denote the Q\mathbb{Q}-vector subspace of R\mathbb{R} spanned by all multiple zeta values ζ(s1,…,sk)\zeta(s_1, \ldots, s_k) of weight nn with admissible index. Let the Zagier dimension sequence dnd_n be defined by d0=1d_0 = 1, d1=0d_1 = 0, d2=1d_2 = 1, and dn=dn−2+dn−3d_n = d_{n-2} + d_{n-3} for all n≥3n \geq 3. Determine whether the Q\mathbb{Q}-dimension of Zn\mathcal{Z}_n equals dnd_n for every natural number nn.
