Problem statement

Let qq be a positive integer and let χ\chi be a primitive Dirichlet character modulo qq. The Dirichlet LL-function associated to χ\chi is denoted L(χ,s)L(\chi, s). The trivial zeros of L(χ,s)L(\chi, s) are defined as follows: if q=1q = 1 (so χ=1\chi = 1 and L(χ,s)L(\chi, s) is the Riemann zeta function ζ(s)\zeta(s)), the trivial zeros are the negative even integers −2,−4,−6,…-2, -4, -6, \ldots; if χ\chi is odd, the trivial zeros are the negative odd integers −1,−3,−5,…-1, -3, -5, \ldots; and if χ≠1\chi \neq 1 is even, the trivial zeros are the non-positive even integers 0,−2,−4,…0, -2, -4, \ldots. A complex number ss is called a non-trivial zero of L(χ,s)L(\chi, s) if L(χ,s)=0L(\chi, s) = 0 and ss is not equal to any trivial zero (under the canonical embedding Z↪C\mathbb{Z} \hookrightarrow \mathbb{C}). Prove that for every primitive Dirichlet character χ\chi and every non-trivial zero ss of L(χ,s)L(\chi, s), the real part of ss equals 12\frac{1}{2}.

A source attachment or link is not a verified proof. The statement’s correspondence with the original question needs human review.
